What Young Women Need to Know: Part 2 |

Skin Phase 2: 16-25 The Peak
During this phase, the skin begins to "settle down" into the texture and level of dryness or oilness that it will remain throughout your breeding years. At this point however, you must be more mindful of changes in the weather, and avoid traumatizing the skin's surface as much as possible. Days on the beach, and revealing clothing may be very tempting during this phase, but be warned that those hours under ultraviolet rays do add up. If you think there's social pressure to show off your cleavage now, imagine what kind of pressure you'll have when you look old before your time. Dark complexioned women need sun protection just as much as the fair skinned. Our skin was made to block more sun, but that sun block is to protect the veins and organs. It doesn't keep us from getting wrinkles. Dry, overexposed skin is always a bad thing. There is a running debate over whether it is better to use a separate sunscreen and moisturizer, or a combined sunscreen and moisturizer. I'm a fan of the combined ones, because then you are sure to get even coverage. With the separate ones, the moisturizer may smear the sunscreen. If you prefer them separate, use the sunscreen over the same brand of moisturizer. Also, save cleavage for evenings if at all. If you like tankshirts, wear a shawl or a t-shirt over it in the day, and you can take it off at night. The skin of the breasts is stretched more than the face, and doesn't hold up as well against intense sunlight. Skin Phase 3: 26-35 "The Botox Years" This is actually the time when most women begin to think about the condition of their skin. If it has been neglected, these are the years when it starts to show rapidly. It is a time when many will resort to unnatural methods to attempt to reverse the damage that was done. Stress, negativity, sunlight, and many other factors start to show on the face. The best way to reverse alot of damage is with intense yet careful skin care and lifestyle changes that will make you healthier and happier. |
Another thing that should become a normal part of your skin care regime during this time is peeling/exfoliation. Oily skinned people whose pores tend to clog may need it up to twice a week. Those with dry skin, once a week. The best for the rough spots of the body in both dry and oily skin use citrus oils and sugar or salt for the granules. Facial scrubbers would use milder and finer granules if any. Go with your needs and sensitivities for facial scrubbers. Some that work fine on others may be too harsh for you. Remember that you don't want to traumatize your skin at all. You just want to slough off the pore clogging dead cells and oil.
